As the popularity of the internet has grown, so had it’s advertising.  New Media/Internet commercials are an increasing trend for product marketing. While national commercials are known to have the longest runs and biggest paychecks, New Media Commercials are great work.  So what do commercial actors earn? What is the Union Payment for Internet & New Media Commercials?

As of January 2012, the union payment schedules for performing in Internet or New Media commercials are as follows:

 If the use of a New Media commercial commences with in a 13-week time period, then a session fee may apply.

Producers do have the option to negotiate editing rights (extended or unlimited), in which additional fees can apply to the production and go into the actor’s paycheck.  If the producer desires to use the New Media Commercial for broadcast or cable television, the producer must get receive a contractual agreement from the actor. A 400% minimum fee applies.  Likewise, if a producer wants to move a broadcast or cable commercial to the Internet, the 400% minimum fee still applies.  Yes, 400%.  Payment can be negotiated, but that is the minimum increase.  Likewise, if a producer wants to receive exclusivity for a New Media commercial, payment also increase.  For more information on New Media Commercial upgrades, visit here.
